Koç received his BA degree in politics at the International Imam Khomeini University in Kazvin, Iran. He then joined Tehran University where he obtained his MA degree from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences with a thesis entitled “Changing State-Society Relations in Post-Revolutionary Iran”. He is currently pursuing his PhD degree on Persian language and literature at a joint programme between Ankara and Kırıkkale universities in Turkey. Apart from his advanced Persian skills, Koç has an intermediate knowledge of English and Arabic. His research interests focus on modern Iranian society, constitutional structure of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as wider domestic developments in this country.
